honey, you're too cute
i have a never ending list of sewing projects but i never seem to get around to actually doing them. one of those project was using Susan's tutorial to make a skirt for Olivia. i can now happily cross it off my list because i finally got around to making it. hooray! i picked up this honeycomb fabric and i love it! next on the list, making one for myself.

ashley's...
here are a few things Ashley is currently loving...
1. I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith. I love this book, because just reading it makes my cheeks feel ruddy in the best way, and my soul invigorated. It's perfect in every way.
2. Paper flowers. Because they never die, and Martha Stewart has a million tutorials for them.
3. Sharon Montrose's blog My dream job. I love her photographs.
4. My husband & dog. We're our own little family, and I love it. Nothing makes me happier.
thanks for sharing Ashley!

well wishes
my parents golden anniversary is coming up this year and my sister's and I are planning a party to honor of them. one of the ideas that i loved while browsing through the second issue of Nonpareil was the wishing tree. such a sweet idea that allows guests to write their well wishes for the couple.

travels and NOLA
in front of Saint Louis Cathedral on Jackson Square
this past week my family and I hit the road and set off through uncharted territory for us, the south! We visited Louisianna, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida where we saw lots and had lots of fun.
i just wanted to say thanks to those of you who commented about New Orleans a while back. we stayed downtown on Canal street where we were able to easily walk around the french quarter. we, of course, had to make the requisite stop at cafe du monde for some beignets which are pretty good. we also drove around the garden district which was full of gorgeous old homes and was one of my favorite parts of NOLA.
now we are trying to figure out where our next trip will be. i'm game for Europe. :) interestingly, my husband and I were talking and since we've been married I have visited all but 15 states, mainly the northeast. that's what happens when you marry a traveler and adventurer. i love it!

i'm afraid i don't have sources for most of these pictures. these were saved on my computer before i realized i should write down sources. if you know any of the sources, feel free to comment.

jackie's...
here are a few things Jackie is currently loving...
1. Books about cooking and food. I just finished Julia Child's My Life in France and now reading Ruth Reichl's Tender at the Bone. It's so fascinating to read about their inspiration and their road to success. I love reading true stories about people who follow their passion.
2. Getting things in the mail. Last week I got my gorgeous olive & a necklace, a letter from a friend and my Real Simple magazine. Made my day!
3. Summer's blog has some great recipes. I just tried the tomato soup and it was delicious!
4. All things French.
5. Chalkboard labels. Just ordered some from this etsy shop and I love them! I'm always re-organizing so I love the fact I can easily change what the label says.
thanks for being the guinea pig Jackie! what a great list.

I thought it would be fun to add variety and discover new things by reading about what other people are currently loving. Whether it be a book, blog, movie, shop, article of clothing, person, etc.
If you'd like to participate (don't be shy), please send me an email [oliveanda@gmail.com] with Currently Loving in the subject line. Tell me 3-5 things you are currently loving with a brief description as to why you are loving these each of these items and a link if applicable. Please also include a little bit about your self and a link to your blog. I will email you back and let you know when your list will be posted.

interior tuesday : shared bedrooms
if only the childhood bedroom i shared with my older sister was as pretty as these rooms. the only pretty thing in our room was the circa 1970s orange & green floral wallpaper, and by pretty i mean pretty ugly.

on my wishlist
i'm always on the lookout for budget-friendly dresses so when i spotted this Norma Kamali shirt dress on Country Living i, first, couldn't believe it was from Walmart and second, loved the $18 price tag. i can see myself wearing it with some cute sandals and a bold layered necklace.
i also really liked the *gladiator wedges they paired with the dress, i think they toughen up a sweet dress.
*Cynthia Vincent for Target Gladiator wedges available in April
