currently loving...

these new handbags and totes from Jess LC. Such a great small collection of bags with clean lines and good details, things I'm always looking for in a handbag.

I am seriously pining away for the Lake Shore Tote in natural even though it wouldn't be practical for me to have with two kids. Pretty sure it would look great on my shoulder. Ha! I like my current "diaper bag" but I can't wait for the day when I can use cute, impractical purses again that don't have to hold snacks, toys and diapers. :)

See more of the handbag collection as well as Jess LC jewelry here.

love letter : flynn skirt

Um....Hi! I just wanted to tell you that I love your stripes, and your perfect little pleats, oh and your pockets (love!).

Do you think that you might want to come live in my closet? I promise you'd be my favorite, my other skirts would get soooo jealous.

Think about it.

Best,

Heather

sweet find : mason jar drink dispenser

I thought I would share this find in case anyone else is interested. I've been on the hunt for a drink dispenser for what seems like forever now so I was a happy when I came across this mason jar dispenser at World Market. Perhaps a little bit picky but I wanted a dispenser made of glass, not expensive, and simple in design so this one being glass and $15 bucks made it perfect for me. Can't wait to use it this summer!

Do tell: What's your favorite summer drink?  Me? I'm a pink lemonade kind of girl.

friday's fancies

Happy Friday dear readers! Today I thought I'd participate in {av} of {long distance loving}'s friday's fancies, where you basically create an outfit you'd love to be wearing. My friday today isn't too fancy, the kids and I are meeting friends at the zoo and also running errands, but I'd love to be wearing a great outfit while doing it all.

What are you up to this weekend? I will see you back here on Monday, I have a great guest blogger lined up that I am excited about. Have a wonderful weekend!

in search of : shower curtain

Our current blah brown shower curtain is about ready to be retired and replaced with something a little more livelier. I haven't quite pinned down what I want: floral, modern, feminine, etc but I know I want more of a graphic impact than our solid one.

I'm also debating making one. Have any of you ever made a shower curtain? I'm thinking maybe something like the striped West Elm or the ruffles on bottom one from Urban Outfitters. They look easy enough. If I'm feeling really adventurous I'd like to try this tutorial for a full ruffle shower curtain. My sewing machine hasn't been getting much love lately so who knows.

fruitful

Hey there, friends! Hope your weekend was wonderful! We had a great spring break but are not too happy about getting back to the daily grind. Sad face.

Last week when I said I was craving spring, I didn't realize how close we were to yesterday's official arrival of spring. Doesn't this citrus print sort of yell spring? "Hey! I'm springy!" I'd love to have this hanging in my kitchen.

on my wishlist...

this chambray roll cuff shirt from one of my favorite clothiers, Shade.

I think I'm going to take the rest of the week off if you don't mind. The sickies that started with Olivia last week has now managed to infect my whole little family, especially poor baby Landon who is in need of lots of attention and love... so that's where I'll be. Have a wonderful rest of your week friends!

overhaulin'

I am in the midst of a post-pregnancy wardrobe overhaul and am trying to pin down a few things.  1. Just what my style is and 2. What really works for me and my body type. My clothes from high school just aren't cutting it after having two babies. I may have developed some hips. Just sayin'.

To help with my closet overhaul, it has been really useful to read Kendi's posts on creating a working closet. I have purged my closet and written a shopping list, now I just need to do the actual shopping (and try remixing). My goal is to create a solid wardrobe with basic but classic pieces that I can build upon.

For me, the price tag has always carried more weight rather than the article of clothing so I usually end up buying clothes because they were cheap/on sale. There is nothing wrong with getting a good deal, I'm all for it but there is getting a good deal and then there is getting a good deal on a not so good product. This brings me to goal #2: buy more quality items that will last me through more than three to five washes. I have a feeling it is going to take some patience on my part to not do any impulse buying but if I persist, I know I will be a happy girl with a closet full of clothes I'm in love with.

-----------------------------------------------

I hope that ya'll have a lovely weekend! Rumor has it the weather is supposed to get better this weekend. Maybe spring is on her way? I certainly hope so! Also, if you didn't get a chance to fill out my survey, I'd appreciate if you'd take a minute to do so. Pretty please? K. Thanks! See you Monday friends!

I couldn't help but think of cupid and his arrows when I saw this necklace.

He can shoot one my way if he wants. I really would not mind.

Some mornings, okay most mornings, I could use a gentle reminder to wake up with a smile on my face.

This print could be my esthetically pleasing gentle reminder.

shop talk : lovely nest

I am having a major love-fest moment for yarn wreaths. Enter Lovely Nest, a shop which features some very lovely wreaths indeed. The styles are perfect for holidays and days in between. My favorite is the green wreath pictured below. Wouldn't the red flower napkin rings be sweet for a Valentines Day dinner party?

Amy is being very generous and is offering a 20% discount to olive & a readers on Lovely Nest products. Use OLIVEANDA20 as the coupon code at checkout.

Also check out Amy's blog Shutterly Lovely where she shares her adventures of decorating her home and some fun DIY's along the way. I am in love with her most recent project and wish I had the space in my own home to make and use one.

making a {wish} list...

Thank you for your sweet comments about baby Landon! We are so in love with the little guy!

This year we've decided to keep Christmas and all it entails decidedly low key (having a healthy baby is present enough) but I couldn't resist posting a few things on my wish list...

1. Peacock Plate
2. Emma
3. Ballet Dahlia Clutch
4. Floral Vintage Scissors
5. Imagination Poster

What's on your list this year?

on the wishlist...

Ooh I can't tell you how excited I am to be threeish weeks away from not wearing maternity clothes. That and fall weather have me itching to pull out those jeans and sweaters I haven't worn for months and pairing them with some cute boots.

Speaking of boots...I have been on the hunt for the perfect boot for honestly years now but I'm thinking I might've found a pair of flat boots I could live with. I've seen these Steve Madden boots around the web and think they might be worth a try.

I hope that ya'll have a great holiday weekend!
