5 things...

that are (hopefully) going to get me through my first Texas summer.

make do and mend

just got back from a walk with my little one and now i've got to get a jump on my never ending to-do list.  one of the items on my list is an ever-growing pile of sewing/mending. hopefully i'll be able to finish the pile and try my hand at Tania's skirt tutorial.

speaking of sewing, i've seen these make do and mend posters around the web and think they are adorable.

new math

So...we are headed back to Texas today with a 20 hour drive ahead of us. i'm not looking forward to being in the car that long. our trip to Utah has been lovely but it will be good to be back home.

to amuse you on your Thursday I'll leave you with some math problems. have you ever heard of new math? it's a site full of random modern non-numerical "math" equations. check out more here.

sweet paul magazine

i love me a good glossy paper mag so with some of my faves dying i've been happy to see a bunch of new online magazines popping up. one such magazine is Sweet Paul. i'm sure i'm not the first or last to talk about it but i'm all about sharing good things. it is full of recipes, crafts/sewing and a slew of other sweet things and is very nicely put together with gorgeous photos. you might also like his blog which is full of lovely things.

diy project : memory tree

I am excited to share how the memory tree for my parents 50th anniversary party turned out! I worked on the tree this morning with my talented sister-in-law and had a great time. It was actually pretty simple to make once we figured everything out. I think it turned out beautifully and am very happy with it.

For those who are interested, here is the breakdown... the pail was a downeast clearance center find that was spray painted gold. The branches were cut from my mother-in-laws backyard and inserted in dirt/soil topped with rock and moss. The tags were cut with a cricut machine and hung with sheer green ribbon. Overall the project cost around $12 to make.

hello friends! did you have a lovely weekend celebrating with your loved ones? we made it to Utah and have had a great time visiting with family. i apologize for the radio silence last week. between finals, packing and driving 20 hours i had to let some things go but i will be back this week!

i was browsing the country living site and came across an idea book of spring crafts. i thought these mugs were pretty cute and would actually be an easy gift. too bad mother's day is over but perhaps they could be modified for father's day. find instructions and other ideas here.
